Former Chicago area racer Gilbert "Skippy" Michaels, 85, passed away at his home in Odell, Ill., on August 10, 2013.  Michaels is shown here after winning a late model feature race at Santa Fe Speedway in 1967.

The late Ken Finley was recently inducted into the Illinois Stock Car Hall of Fame (2015).  Finley and car owner Bob Pohlman teamed up to win the Late Model track championship at Chicagoland's Santa Fe Speedway in 1965.  Sadly, the next year, Finley, who looked well on to his way to another track title, suffered a massive heart attack after a feature win and passed away.  Also a Santa Fe champion in 1959, Finley is shown here at the wheel of his Bob Pohlman-owned Ford after a 1965 victory.
