MAZON SPEEDBOWL PHOTO SCRAPBOOK
This aerial view shows the old Mazon Speed Bowl property during a rodeo in April of 2006. According to Mazon historian Ron Kessler...
The rodeo ring with the
stands was where the pits were. The large group of trees just behind the rodeo
stands was the infield. The rodeo stands are actually on part of the track...the
1st and 2nd turns - they start on the track and end up on the outside of the
banking of 1-2 turns.
The row of trees at the top of the photo was where the south side grandstands
used to be. The large piece of concrete that went the length of the stands is
still there. The last stock car races were held at Mazon in September of 1970 as
the Grundy County Fairgrounds was moved to Morris with the new Grundy County
Speedway replacing the historic Mazon track in 1971.
