Young Dalton Armstrong of New Castle, Ind. won the 50-lap midget feature race at
Joliet Memorial Stadium on September 12, 2009. The race highlighted "The Last
Stand at the Stadium" racing program, which would be the final racing event ever
held at the flat, quarter-mile paved oval. The track, a mainstay for local
midget auto racing from 1952 through 1986, will be torn out as the stadium
undergoes a major renovation project. Longtime area midget racing starter Danny
Carter (right) joins Armstrong in victory lane after his win.
