Buck Hinkle enjoyed a lot
of sucess with his new Chevelle convertible at Illiana in 1967, winning the
track's late model season track championship. Hinkle poses with the checkered
flag after a late-season victory that year.

Before 1952, Illiana Motor Speedway was known as

The "Lynwood Leadfoot" Frank
Gawlinski won the Tony Bettenhausen Memorial 100 late model stock car race a
record nine times during his career. The Illinois speedster is shown here after
winning the Bettenhausen 100 lapper in 1987. Illiana hosts the 50th annual
Bettenhausen Classic on September 10.
