NASCAR legend Curtis Turner holds his trophy after winning the NASCAR convertible division 500-lap race at Soldier Field on September 9, 1956.  Joining Turner on the right is John Holman of Holman-Moody, who owned the '56 Ford that Turner drove to victory.

Chuck Scharf (right) joins starter Art Kelly (second from the right) and race winner Glenn Wood after Wood won the NASCAR Convertible Division race at Chicago's Soldier Field on June 29, 1957.  Scharf and his partner Eddy Anderson had introduced short track stock car racing to the Chicago area in 1948.

All the early major sponsors of NASCAR were at Soldier Field for the NASCAR Convertible Division race in 1957, including Pure Gasoline, Firestone and Goodyear.  Bill Poor's No. 711 is shown getting some fuel for the night's racing.
