Legendary Wisconsin stock car driver Dick Trickle captured the ARTGO late model series championship a record seven times.  Trickle is pictured here at Capital Super Speedway near Oregon, Wis. on August 26, 1979.  In less than 24 hours, Trickle and his Superamerica Firebird No. 99 won five ARTGO features, winning two at the Dells Motor Speedway on Saturday night and then winning three more at Capital the following Sunday afternoon.

The principal players in the ARTGO Racing story (from left to right) John McKarns, Tom Reffner, Art Frigo, Dave Watson and Dick Trickle pose for a photo at the Capital Super Speedway (Oregon, Wis.) on a cold Sunday afternoon--April 8, 1979.  Frigo, the Chicago area businessman with the help of McKarns, founded the ARTGO late model series in 1975.  Reffner was the first series champion in 1975 and won again in 1978 with Watson winning in 1976.  Trickle was the ARTGO champ in 1977, his first of seven career titles.

Future NASCAR star Mark Martin carries the American Flag during opening ceremonies at the ARTGO Racing event at Chicagoland's Raceway Park on June 16, 1981.  Martin, who was the event's fastest qualifier, shared twin 75-lap feature honors with Jim Sauter, who would be crowned the 1981 ARTGO titlist.
